Maison Lumia
About
Built on the belief that beauty care should work with your skin — not against it.

The founder
Zoë
Founder & Lead Practitioner
Zoë founded Maison Lumia after years working in beauty and wellness across Brussels. She had experienced firsthand the gap between what was widely available — rushed sessions, chemically aggressive formulas, impersonal environments — and what she believed body care could be: precise, calm, and built on a genuine understanding of skin.
She trained in sugaring with practitioners across Belgium and Europe, spending two years refining the technique, the product selection, and the studio environment before opening the first Maison Lumia. The method she practices is not a simplified version of a salon treatment — it is a deliberate approach to hair removal developed specifically for sensitive, reactive, and body-conscious clients.
The name Maison Lumia — house of light — reflects both the physical quality of the studios and the principle behind the work: transparency about what goes on your skin, clarity in technique, and care that illuminates rather than obscures.

The origin
Created because the alternative did not exist
Maison Lumia began not with a business plan, but with a specific frustration. Zoë had spent years looking for a studio that combined genuine technical expertise with honest, body-friendly products — and kept finding either one or the other, never both.
The studios that used clean formulas often lacked the practitioner knowledge to make them effective. The studios that had the technique relied on products with ingredient lists that gave her pause. The gap was consistent and, she decided, worth closing.
Maison Lumia was built to hold both: rigorous training in sugaring technique, strict no-double-dip hygiene, a polish selection that meets the same standard the formulas do, and a studio environment designed to lower — not raise — the nervous system before any treatment begins.
The Brussels studio opened first. Antwerp followed. Both are intentionally small — one practitioner, one client at a time.
What we stand for
Our values
01
Body-friendly methods
Every technique we use is chosen because it works with the skin's structure, not against it. Sugaring extracts in the direction of growth. Our manicure preserves the cuticle seal. Nothing aggressive, nothing unnecessary.
02
Honest ingredients
The paste is three ingredients. The polish is chosen for what it does not contain as carefully as for what it does. We can tell you exactly what goes on your skin — and why. Transparency is not optional.
03
Strict hygiene standards
No double-dipping. Ever. One client, one application, every single time. A clean studio is not a marketing claim — it is a practice that either holds or it does not. Ours holds.
04
Individual attention
Every session begins with a brief consultation. Skin changes with seasons, hormones, stress, and medication. We adapt the approach accordingly. A returning client is never treated as a repeat transaction.
05
Calm as a method
The state of your nervous system during a treatment directly affects how your skin responds. Our environment is designed to create calm — not as an atmosphere, but as a physiological condition that produces better outcomes.
06
Long-term thinking
We do not sell quick fixes. Sugaring builds progressive results over consistent sessions. Nail health recovers over months of steady habits. We work with clients who are here for the compound result, not the instant one.

The approach
How every session is structured
Every visit to Maison Lumia follows the same structure — not because it is routine, but because precision requires it.
01
Consultation
Every first visit — and every returning visit where something has changed — begins with a brief conversation. Skin history, current routine, sensitivities, and seasonal changes are all relevant.
02
Technique
Sugaring is applied by hand, not with a spatula. The paste is moulded, pressed, and removed with precision. No rushing, no skipping passes, no guesswork about direction.
03
Products
Everything applied to your skin during a session — paste, powder, soothing finish — is selected for what it does not contain as much as for what it does. We can name every ingredient.
04
Aftercare
You leave with specific guidance for the next 48 hours. Not a leaflet — a conversation based on the session that just happened and the skin we just worked with.
“I did not open Maison Lumia to offer a luxury experience. I opened it because body care that is genuinely respectful of the skin — technically rigorous and honestly formulated — was harder to find than it should have been.”
